§ Colonel DAYasked the Minister of Transport the number and places where motor speed limits of five miles, or less, per hour are in operation?
§ Colonel ASHLEYA complete record of such speed limits is not available as, in addition to the powers now vested in the Minister of Transport and formerly vested in the Local Government Board and the Secretary for Scotland, the councils of counties and county boroughs have powers under the Locomotives on Highways Act, 1896, to impose such speed limits with respect to bridges. The exercise of the last-mentioned powers is not subject to the consent of any Government Department.
