§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKSI do not understand the hon. Member's reference 379W to special schemes. All the 57,168 members of police forces in England and Wales and the 2,069 established male prison officers serve under pensionable conditions; the scheme under the Police Pensions Act, 1921, which applies to the former is contributory, but that under the Prison Officers (Superannuation) Act, 1919, is not.
