HC Deb 21 June 1926 vol 197 c49W
Colonel DAY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India if the recommendation of the International Labour Conference, relating to an inquiry into the conditions of Indian native labour, will be carried into effect; and what steps have been taken with a view to such an inquiry?

Earl WINTERTON

The recommendation was that the governing body of the International Labour Office, in consultation with the Governments concerned, should undertake, so far as is possible, a documentary inquiry into the conditions of labour in Asiatic countries, more especially in China, India, Japan, Persia and Siam, and in the Colonies, Protectorates and Mandated Territories in Asia. The International Labour Office is engaged in the inquiry.
