asked the President of the Board of Education the number of persons employed as teachers in England and Wales who are employed under conditions providing for superannuation payments on retirement; and will he give distinguishing particulars, if any, of the pensions which are on a contributory basis?

The number of persons employed as teachers in England and Wales in service which can be pensionable under the Teachers (Superannuation) Act., 1925, is about 183,000. All such persons are in service which is contributory.
