§ Mr. GILLETTasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what proportion of the taxation raised in the Colonies of Kenya, Uganda, Northern Rhodesia, Nyasaland, and Tanganyika is estimated to be paid by the native population?
§ Mr. AMERYAs regards Kenya, I can add nothing to the information given in the reply to the hon. and learned Member for Orkney (Sir R. Hamilton) on the 12th June, 1923, when the information given showed that, taking into account direct taxation and Customs duties, the proportion of native revenue to the whole was just under 58 per cent. I regret that I cannot give a similar figure for the other Dependencies, as I have no information as to the partition of Customs revenue, but if the hon. Member so desires I will consult the Governors.
