HC Deb 25 February 1926 vol 192 c760W
Mr. T. SHAW

asked the President of the Board of Education whether the Preston Education Authority will be allowed to proceed in the provision of playing fields for elementary school children in view of Memorandum 44?

Lord E. PERCY

I do not find that this authority have communicated to my Department any proposal for the provision of playing fields for elementary school children.

Mr. STAMFORD

asked the President of the Board of Education whether he is aware that, before the issue of Memorandum 44, the Leeds Education Committee was negotiating for the purchase of playing fields to be used by elementary school children of the city, and that the negotiations for the purchase have now been stopped; and whether, in view of the need for more playing fields, he will modify his proposals and allow the education committee to continue its negotiations?

Lord E. PERCY

The Leeds Authority have not submitted to me any proposal for the provision of playing fields for elementary school children.
