HC Deb 23 February 1926 vol 192 c343W
Mr. SCURR

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been drawn to the allegations of short weight consequent on the increased use of automatic counter scales; and if he will set up a Committee, under Section 5 of the Weights and Measures Act, to inquire into the best methods of framing regulations to deal with this matter?

Sir B. CHADWICK

I am aware of suggestions of the nature indicated in the question. As the hon. Member is aware, the whole question of short weight, and of the action to be taken in regard thereto, is at present under consideration as a result of the investigations of the Food Council.
