HC Deb 19 February 1926 vol 191 cc2297-8W
Colonel DAY

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the number of motor vehicles imported into Kenya, Uganda, Zanzibar, and Tanganyika territory during the year 1925; and what proportion was of British manufacture?

Mr. AMERY

I have not yet received any official information on the subject, but I understand that in the first ten and a-half months of 1925 the motor vehicles imported into Kenya, Uganda, Zanzibar and the Tanganyika territory numbered 1,458 cars, 776 lorries, 402 tractors, and 868 cycles. Of the 1,200 motor vehicles imported into Kenya and Uganda in the first six months of the year, nearly 200 were of British manufacture.
