HC Deb 17 February 1926 vol 191 c1950W
Captain BENN

asked the Minister of Health whether he will consider some revision of the terms on which means are calculated in assessing old age pension, in view of the fact that under the present system no cognisance is taken of the actual income enjoyed, but only of the capital owned, and that the interest on at least a part of the capital is placed unduly high?

Mr. R. McNEILL

I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the answer given by my right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer to the hon. Member for Middlesbrough West (Mr. T. Thomson) in reply to a similar question on the 10th February, 1925, of which I am sending him a copy.
