HC Deb 11 February 1926 vol 191 cc1276-7W
Mr. BUXTON

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether his attention has been called to the low rate of wages fixed for agricultural labourers in the Counties of Norfolk and Suffolk; and whether he will use his powers to demand a reconsideration in those cases where the weekly remuneration is less than 30s?

Mr. GUINNESS

I am aware that in Norfolk and Suffolk the minimum rates of wages for ordinary adult male workers are less than 30s. per week, but I have come to the conclusion, as did my predecessor in the case of Norfolk, that no case has been made out for asking the two wages committees concerned to reconsider the rates they have fixed.
