HC Deb 10 February 1926 vol 191 cc1070-1W
Sir F. WISE

asked the Secretary of State for Air if the Government has purchased the Hendon aerodrome; and, if so, what is the price and the price per acre?

Sir S. HOARE

The Government has acquired the freehold and leasehold interests of the Grahame-White Company and of Mr. Grahame-White in the Hendon Aerodrome and buildings thereon. As part of the bargain, and in order to avoid severance, the Government has taken over certain land and buildings bordering on the aerodrome, which, to the extent that they are not required by the Air Ministry, will be sold. At the same time steps are being taken to acquire the freehold of the leasehold property acquired. In view of the fact that negotiations are actually proceeding for the sale of the land and buildings not required for Air Force purposes, I think it inadvisable for the present to state the exact price paid by the Air Ministry.
