§ Viscount WOLMERThe charge to which the hon. Member refers is made in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 8 of the Foreign and Colonial Parcel Post Warrant, 1925 (Statutory Rules and Orders, 1925, No. 729). It is imposed in respect of the work performed by the Post Office on behalf of the addressee in clearing a parcel through the Customs; and there is no relation between the cost of that work and the amount of the duty raised on the parcel.
