HC Deb 09 February 1926 vol 191 c868W
Mr. CLARRY

asked the Secretary of State for War if he is aware that the staff of the Monmouthshire Cadets, having incurred liability on the strength of the sanction of the cadet grant, will be placed in a difficult position by any change of policy by his Department with respect to the grant; and whether he will take steps to deal with such cases?

Sir L. WORTHINGTON-EVANS

I have been in communication with the hon. Member on this question, which has reference to the unit's liability for the expenses of its camp I cannot agree that the unit was led to incur this liability by a promise of assistance from the War Office, because the decision to renew the cadet grant was not announced until after the camp had been held. But the difficulty is now disposed of by the decision which I am glad to have been able to announce, to issue the cadet grants for the current year and the year 1926–27.
