§ Mr. MACLEANasked the Minister of Health the total amount of the surplus in the funds of the National Health Insurance at the end of the financial year 1925?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINAs the hon Member is no doubt aware, the amount of surplus can be ascertained only on the valuation of the individual approved societies. The last valuations, as regards certain societies made as at 31st December, 1922, and as regards the remainder as at 31st December, 1923, are not yet complete. It is estimated, however, that, as a result of those valuations, a gross surplus of between £30,000,000 and £35,000,000 for England and Wales will be disclosed.
