§ Mr. LIVINGSTONEasked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the growing demand of the paper-making industry, he will appoint a commission to inquire into the possibility of growing pulp wood in this country, especially in the Scottish Highlands and Islands?
§ Sir L. FORESTIER-WALKERI have been asked to reply. It is considered unnecessary to appoint a commission since the Forestry Commission has already been established to promote afforestation and the production and supply of timber in Great Britain. The Commissioners are in fact planting in the Scottish Highlands and other parts of Great Britain large areas with trees suitable for production of pulp, and are prepared to give financial assistance to local authorities and others for the same purpose.
