HC Deb 04 February 1926 vol 191 cc358-9W
Sir A. HOLBROOK

asked the Minister of Transport if he is aware that American-built motor omni buses were recently ordered for a municipal service, and that these vehicles do not comply with the specification set out in his order for the licensing and regulation of public service vehicles; and whether he will take action to protect British makers who strictly comply with his order from this unfair competition?

Lieut. Colonel MOORE-BRABAZON

My attention had not previously been drawn to this point. I have made no such Order as that suggested in the question, nor have I at present powers to do so, but the Bill relating to road vehicles to which reference was made in the Gracious Speech from the Throne will go far to meet the point raised in the second part of my hon. and gallant Friend's question.
