HC Deb 04 February 1926 vol 191 c342W
Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Secretary for Mines whether his attention has been called to the death of George Holt, a colliery drawer, of 11, Burlington Street, Hindley, Wigan, who was killed by a runaway tub owing to defective scotching; and, if so, whether his Department will make inquiries into the suggestions made at the inquest for an improved method of scotching?

Colonel LANE FOX

I am aware of the circumstances of this sad accident and of the suggestions made at the inquest. I understand that for the future the use of special scotches is to be made general at the mine where the accident happened, and the Inspectors of Mines are being instructed to give special attention to the matter.
