HC Deb 02 February 1926 vol 191 cc5-6W
Sir A. HOLBROOK

asked the Prime Minister when it is proposed to set up a committee of inquiry into the film industry so as to ensure that British films may be more generally shown in this country; and whether he will consider the adoption of a similar plan to that in vogue in Germany, under which German films must be taken in exchange for American films shown in that country?

Sir B. CHADWICK

I have been asked to reply. It is not the present intention of the Government to appoint a committee of inquiry into the film industry, but various proposals in regard to that industry are under consideration. The German scheme to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers will be borne in mind.
