HC Deb 15 December 1926 vol 200 cc2959-60W
Viscountess ASTOR

asked the Minister of Health what sum would represent the capitalised value of prospective benefits under the National Health Insurance Acts for an insured man aged 20?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

The National Health Insurance Acts do not require the capitalised value of the benefits at any age to be obtained for any administrative purpose and I regret, therefore, that I am unable to give the information desired. I would point out that in any case the capitalised value of the prospective benefits must be taken in conjunction with the capitalised value of the future contributions necessary to secure them, and that so far as relates to the proportion of the benefits payable from the funds of approved societies the difference between the two amounts is represented approximately by the transfer value. In the case of an insured man this value at the age of 20 is £2 8s. under the present regulations.
