HC Deb 15 December 1926 vol 200 c2951W
Mr. HAMMERSLEY

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is aware that in a case of the infringement of a British trade mark by a certain Turkish national, where, due to protracted legislation, the British firm concerned has been unable to obtain redress for over 18 months, the Court of Eski Chehir has found in favour of the offending Turk; and, seeing that this judgment is a breach of the Industrial Property Convention to which Turkey has formally adhered, what steps he proposes to take to protect British commercial interests?

Mr. LOCKER-LAMPSON

As regards the first part of the question, I regret that I cannot add anything to the reply which was given to the hon. Member on the 24th of February last. I have not received any information of a final decision in this case. As regards the second part of the question, strong representations on the subject were made to the Turkish Government by His Majesty's Ambassador in Turkey some months ago. I am now addressing His Excellency again on the subject.
