HC Deb 09 December 1926 vol 200 cc2317-8W
Mr. W. BAKER

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the annual contribution which is made by Kenya towards the cost of the King's African Rifles; and whether he will give the strength of the troops employed in Kenya in return for this contribution?

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

There is no question of a contribution. Each Dependency in East Africa raises, administers and pays for its own garrison of King's African Rifles. The garrison of Kenya at present consists of six companies of King's African Rifles and a supply and transport unit. The total cost of this service for 1927 is estimated at £125,000.
