HC Deb 09 December 1926 vol 200 cc2297-9W
Captain P. MACDONALD

asked the mister of Labour how many of the cases reported to his Department of men who were penalised by their trade unions for remaining at work during the general strike have been withdrawn; how many are still unsettled; and, in view of the length of time which has expired since these cases were reported and the hardships inflicted upon trades union members concerned, what action he proposes to take to see that outstanding cases are satisfactorily settled?

Sir A. STEEL-MAITLAND

Since my reply of 15th November to a somewhat similar question, only two additional cases, making 101 in all, have, been brought to my notice. Of the cases out- standing on that date, 17 have been settled, making a total of 59 disposed of. Everything possible is being done by my Department to obviate any undue delay in the settlement of outstanding cases.
