HC Deb 04 August 1926 vol 198 cc3011-2W
Mr. BENNETT

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury how many temporary clerks have been appointed to posts in the permanent unestablished class, and when it is contemplated that the whole of the appointments will be made?

Mr. McNEILL

As the actual appointments as permanent, non-pensionable clerks are made by Departments, I could not give the number of appointments made at any given date without circularising all Departments The number of selections for appointments reported to and approved by the Treasury up to date is approximately 5,200. Apart from a small number of appointments held in abeyance for a time to give an opportunity of selection to men who may fail to pass the medical tests for establishment, I anticipate that the whole of the appointments will be complete in the very near future.
