§ Mr. RENNIE SMITHasked the Home Secretary if he will inquire as to whether Mr. Joseph Womack, of Nethergate, Stannington, who was arrested and released on 19th July by a local constable, had this action taken against him under the Emergency Powers Act?
§ Captain HACKINGMr. Womack was not arrested. He offered to accompany to the police station a constable who suspected him of street betting. No charge was preferred. There was no question of any contravention of Emergency Regulations.
