§ Mr. ROBERT WILSONasked the Postmaster-General whether his attention has been called to the injury done to Mrs. Turquand, late of Stratford Place, in consequence of the non-delivery of two registered letters on 6th February, which injury has been admitted by his Department; and, in view of the statement on page 31 of the Post Office Guide that the final decision upon all questions of compensation rests with him, whether he will consider the making of some grant in this case?

Under the published Statutory Regulations, I have no authority to pay compensation for less or damage con- 3025W sequential upon—i.e., indirectly arising from—the delay of any article sent by post; and, although I regret the loss suffered by Mrs. Turquand, I have no fund out of which I could make a compassionate grant to her.
