HC Deb 04 August 1926 vol 198 cc3008-9W
Mr. ROBINSON

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many disabled overseas ex-service men have been given notice to terminate their . service with the Inland Revenue Taxes Department on 14th August, 1926: why such notices have been given in view of the recommendations of the Southborough Committee: and will he take steps to see that these men are given permanent non-pensionable employment?

Mr. McNEILL

The number of men concerned is 10. Notice has been given on the ground that these men were not eligible, under the arrangements made for giving effect to the Southborough Committee's recommendations, for permanent non-pensionable employment. Their employment was on a purely temporary footing, and I fear that they must give place to other ex-service men with prior rights under the recommendations in question.
