§ Sir W. de FRECEasked the Minister of Health the highest and the lowest economic rent charged for subsidised houses built by any local authorities; whether he is aware that at Hastings some of the council houses require a weekly economic rent of 19s. 7d.; and why the figure is so high?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINIt is presumed that, by economic rent, the hon. Member means the rent which may be charged by a local authority for houses erected under the Housing (Financial Provisions) Act, 1924, if the contribution by the local authority be restricted to £4 10s. per annum for 40 years. I regret that the general information for which the hon. Member asks is not available, but I will make inquiry into the particular case to which he refers, and communicate with him.
