asked the Minister of Labour (1) the total number of persons refused benefit in Glasgow since 1st January, 1926;

(2) the number of persons who have been refused benefit as not having a reasonable period of employment during the past two years in the city of Glasgow since 1st January, 1926?

Between 12th January, 1926, and 12th July, 19,392 applications for extended benefit were recommended for disallowance by the local employment committees in Glasgow out of 111,423 applications considered by them. Of this total number, 9,765 applications were disallowed on the ground that, the applicants had not had a reasonable period of insurable employment within the previous two years.
