§ Mr. WARDLAW-MILNEasked the Home Secretary whether he has been in communication with the Dominions in the last few months regarding the subject of the nationality of British women who marry aliens; generally, what the position in regard to this matter now is; and whether the Government proposes any legislation on the subject?
§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKSThe reply to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. The present position is that the views of the Governments of some of the Self-Governing Dominions on certain outstanding points have not yet been ascertained. When the replies to the communications which have been sent to the Dominions are complete, the various proposals for the alteration of the law relating to the nationality of married 1839W women will be fully considered, with a view to an early decision as to any legislation that may be thought necessary.
