Captain O'CONNORasked the Minister of Health the' number of public authorities who, during the 12 months ended the 28th February, 1925, adopted the 1923 Housing Act and the 1924 Housing Act, respectively; and the number of houses for which permission has been given by the Minister to public authorities under each Act during this period?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINOn the 25th February, 1925, the total number of authorities who had received approval to Housing schemes under the Housing Act, 1923, was 1,411, and these schemes provided for 184,202 houses. Proposals covering 73,056 houses were approved under the Act of 1923 in the year ended 25th February, 1925, and 334 local authorities first adopted schemes under the Act in that period. Approval was given within the game period under the Housing (Financial Provisions) Act, 1924, to schemes of 311 local authorities covering 31,900 houses.
