§ Mr. ORMSBY-GOREThe railway extension into Uganda, for which an2508W assisted loan of 3½ millions was voted by the House last year, has been surveyed, and construction was to have begun early this year. I have not received any information as to the exact position, but it is believed that a commencement has not yet been possible at the eastern end of the line. In Tanganyika Territory the first 80 miles of a branch line from Tabora to Shinyanga are under construction and the remaining 40 miles sanctioned.
