Owing to changes made by the Unemployment Insurance Act of 1st August, 1924, it is not possible to give comparable figures of reasons for rejections prior

many of such claims were referred to committees; how many were rejected for the reason that the applicants were not making reasonable efforts to obtain suitable employment; how many for the reason that they were not willing to accept suitable employment; and how-many on the ground that they had not had a reasonable period of insurable employment since December, 1919, or subsequent period.

The following table gives all the information available in respect of the number of claims to benefit, at the exchanges referred to:

Statistics in regard to the number of claims referred to committees can only be given by periods coinciding with the special periods or benefit years. In connection with the following table it should be noted that the claims then included were taken from (he total register for the time being, and were not specially related to the. fresh claims included above in table A.
