§ Mr. BETTERTONThe amount of unemployment benefit paid in England and Wales from the 11th November, 1918, to the 31st May, 1925, was £173,540,000. In addition, out-of-work donation, amounting to £50,620,000, was paid to ex-service men and women, and to civilians.
