§ Major TASKERasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the surveyors of Customs and Excise who act in respect of the County of London as pension officers under the Old Age Pensions and Blind Persons Acts have kept any record of the number of books, issued by them or under their survey, of orders for payment of the pensioners; and, if so, what 1737W is the approximate number of pensioners for the County of London?
§ Mr. CHURCHILLRecords are kept of the number of order books issued by pension officers for the payment of old age pensions, but pension districts are not co-terminous with county areas. As explained in the reply given to the hon. Member for Lambeth North (Mr. Briant) on the 21st May, there are no statistics at present available from which the information requested by my hon. and gallant Friend could be furnished.
