§ Major CLIFTON BROWNasked the Attorney-General if he is aware that in Northumberland dissatisfaction exists at the number of justices of the peace who, since appointment to the bench, have ceased residence in the county, and whether steps will be taken to relieve such justices of the peace of their appointment, as is done in the case of deputy lieutenants?
§ The ATTORNEY-GENERALThe Lord Chancellor is not aware that dissatisfaction of the kind suggested by the hon. Member exists in Northumberland, or that an unusual number of justices have ceased to reside in the county. If such circumstances are brought to the Lord Chancellor's notice by his Advisory Committee, he will consider what action he can take.
