§ Mr. BURMANasked the Minister of Health the total number of local authorities in England and Wales to which the Local Government and other Officers Superannuation Act, 1922, could apply; the total number of local authorities, of all classes, who have adopted a superannuation scheme under the Act; and the total number of local authorities who have adopted superannuation schemes under private or local Acts?
1681W
Mr. CHAMBERLAINThe total number of local authorities in England and Wales to which the Local Government and Other Officers' Superannuation Act, 1922, could apply is over 14,500. This number includes 12,850 parish councils and parish meetings and a number of other small authorities. The total number of authorities who have adopted the Act of 1922 is 290. I am unable to state the exact number of local authorities who have superannuation schemes established under private or local Acts, but the number would appear to be about 60.
