§ Colonel PERKINSasked the First Lord of the Admiralty if he is considering a scheme whereby supervisors from another grade should be introduced into the Royal Naval Store Department; whether he is aware that the prevailing system of promotion is by the passing of an examination for the established post of a store-houseman, and that successful candidates have to serve about 21 years before obtaining promotion to inspector and afterwards to foreman; and whether, in the interests of the staff affected, he will oppose any modification in the existing system of promotion which has been followed?
