§ Colonel ASHLEYThrough my Department's staff the attention of highway authorities is constantly being drawn to the need for precautions against the risks that may arise from too smooth a road surface, and various expedients are being adopted to improve the foothold where necessary. Should the Roads Improvement Bill become law, I shall welcome the opportunity of conducting experiments on this and kindred matters affecting road users.
