§ Mr. HAYESasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can now consider the advisability of the provision of quarters free of charge for the general penitentiary staff at Kingston, Jamaica, in manner similar to those provided for the police on the island?
§ Mr. ORMSBY-GOREI would refer the hon. Member to the reply returned to his question on the 2nd March, 1924, and to the Report from the Governor of Jamaica which was subsequently communicated to him. I am not aware of any later developments which would justify my right Hon. Friend in recommending the Jamaica Government to reconsider its attitude in the matter of free quarters for the penitentiary staff.
