§ Mr. HOBHOUSEasked the Minister of Agriculture whether, in view of the fact that a negligible number of new small holdings have been created during the last six months, in spite of a considerable demand, as shown by the large number of unsatisfied applicants, he will now consider an immediate scheme for the further provision of holdings both for ex-service men and civilians?
§ Mr. BUXTONI am carefully considering the recommendation of the Agricultural Tribunal in regard to small holdings, but before a new scheme can be put into operation a revision of the existing financial arrangements between the Ministry and local authorities will be necessary, and this will involve fresh legislation. In the circumstances, some time must elapse before it will be possible to formulate definite proposals.
