§ Sir C. STARMERasked the Minister of Health whether, seeing that he proposes giving a larger bonus for building houses within a limit of 950 superficial feet, he will, in view of the great number of unoccupied houses of the larger type for which there does not seem to be much demand and which cannot be converted into fiats without considerable cost, favourably consider a bonus towards the cost of such conversion?
§ Mr. WHEATLEYProvision is made in Section 3 (1) (c) of the Housing, Etc., Act, 1923, for assistance to be given by local authorities in the case of the conversion of a house into flats. It is not the intention of the Government to extend the new subsidy proposals to this purpose.
