HARVEYasked the Home Secretary whether, in view of the difficulties which have arisen with regard to the conditions of employment at the British Empire Exhibition, as well as at preceding exhibitions. steps will be taken in connection with any contemplated legislation to extend the protection of the Factory and Workshops Acts to such exhibitions?
Mr. DAVIESRetail trading at exhibitions is already subject to the Shops Acts, and any further provision necessary in regard to conditions of employment at exhibitions should, in my opinion, be carried out by an extension of those Acts. The matter will he carefully considered when amending shops legislation is undertaken.
