HC Deb 21 May 1924 vol 173 c2223W
Mr. E. SIMON

asked the Minister of Health how many private enterprise houses were in course of erection on 31st March last, with and without subsidy respectively; and what annual rate of building might be expected on this basis?

Mr. WHEATLEY

The following numbers of houses were in course of erection by private enterprise on the 31st March last:

Subsidy houses 20,222
Non-subsidy houses of all sizes (approximate) 36,750
Total 56,972

I do not think it is practicable to make any useful estimate of the annual rate of building based on these figures.
