§ Sir W. de FRECEasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer how much the War cost in actual money; how much we have received in repayment; and how much is assumed to be owing to us by Germany and by other nations?
§ Mr. SNOWDENThe compilation of figures giving the information for which the hon. Member asks involves so many assumptions and qualifications that I am doubtful if the result would be worth the labour involved. But I am considering whether a statement could be compiled showing the approximate net cost of the War to the Exchequer.
