HC Deb 11 March 1924 vol 170 c2158W
Sir K. WOOD

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether, having regard to the number of discharges still taking place at Woolwich Arsenal, he is likely to make at an early date any special proposals for obtaining work for many old hands who have rendered efficient service for many years?

Mr. LAWSON

I regret I am not in a a position to make any special proposals. I would, however, point out that no discharges except on account of age or other special causes are at present taking place from the factories. The discharges from the Army Ordnance Department are necessitated by reduction of work, but in selecting men for discharge due regard will be paid to length of service.
