HC Deb 11 March 1924 vol 170 c2147W
Mr. REMER

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the unemployment which is caused in the lace and embroidery trades consequent on the importations of these materials from the Continent at prices1 aided by the collapsed exchanges, at which it is impossible to compete, he proposes to take any action to impose a 33⅓ per cent. ad valorem duty, in acordance with the recommendations of the recent committee on the subject?

Mr. WEBB

The Report of the Committee is under consideration, and I am not able to make a statement on the subject at present.
