HC Deb 11 March 1924 vol 170 cc2172-3W
Sir V. WARRENDER

asked the Home Secretary whether, in view of the increase of traffic passing through Hyde Park as a result of the admittance of taxi-cabs, he will consider the placing of a constable on point duty at Stanhope Gate and Grosvenor Gate, respectively, for the safety and convenience of pedestrians?

Mr. HENDERSON

This is a question which concerns also my right hon. Friend the First Commissioner of Works. The constables formerly employed at the points mentioned were withdrawn, at the request of the First Commissioner, as a measure of economy, but the question is being examined afresh by my right hon. Friend in the light of the altered circumstances.
