DAVIESasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his attention has been directed to the appeal of Professor Gustav Cassel to Great Britain for a reversion to the gold standard: whether the Treasury has had this question under review; whether he is aware that leading British financial authorities have made similar appeals; and whether His Majesty's Government is prepared to consider the question in its national and international aspect, with the view of a reversion to the gold standard at an early date?
§ Mr. SNOWDENI am well aware of the facts mentioned by the hon. Member, and can assure him that the possibility of an early return to the gold standard is constantly under consideration.
