Captain BENNasked the Under-Secretary of State for India how many individuals would be affected if the permanent officials of the Indian Civil Service who were invalided out owing to war disabilities before 7th November, 1921, and who at that date were on leave without allowances and not in active Civil Service, were allowed to profit as regards pension by the revised rules which came into force on that date; and what the approximate cost of this concession would be?
§ Mr. RICHARDSAccurate figures are not available, but the number cannot be large. I assume that the rules, referred to are the premature retirement rules. As the hon. and gallant Member is aware these were introduced for officers retiring in quite different circumstances.
