HC Deb 31 July 1924 vol 176 c2283W
Mr. MELLER

asked the Minister of Health whether he is prepared to introduce legislation whereby dwellings erected for the working classes can be purchased by that class of persons by means of weekly payments of amounts approximating to the weekly rents at which such houses can be let?

Mr. WHEATLEY

The Small Dwellings Acquisition Acts already empower local authorities to assist residents by advancing money to enable them to purchase their houses, and repayment may be made either weekly or at any periods not exceeding a half-year as may be agreed. I do not think that further legislation is necessary at the present time.
